Geomembrane Installation Manual

This article briefly introduces several small issues that should be paid attention to during the construction and welding of geomembranes. This Geomembrane Installation Manual is not comprehensive, but it is very practical.
1. When welding geomembranes, attention should be paid to thermal expansion and contraction. After welding, the geomembrane will shrink when it cools. If no expansion space is reserved during welding, the tensile force generated by cooling and contraction may tear the weld, causing damage to the anti-seepage and other functions of the geomembrane.
2. For agricultural breeding (fish ponds, shrimp ponds), it is recommended to use anti-ultraviolet and anti-oxidation geomembranes with a thickness of more than 0.3mm. In particular, it is recommended to use geomembranes for ponds that cultivate lotus roots at the bottom of the pond. The lotus roots grown with geomembranes grow horizontally, are relatively long, and are easy to harvest; the lotus roots without geomembranes grow vertically and are not easy to harvest.
3. For fish ponds, after laying geomembranes on the bottom, lay soil on the geomembranes. This design makes it easier for fish to survive.
4. Recommended welding temperature: 0.3mm: <300℃
0.5mm, 0.7mm: 400℃-450℃,
≥1.0mm: >450℃
5. When the geomembrane welding machine starts welding, the speed is generally a little faster, and the welding temperature and speed are adjusted to be slower.
6. If you use an HDPE E lock, you should pay special attention to thermal expansion and contraction, otherwise the welding point between the HDPE E lock and the geomembrane will be easily torn.
7. If the geomembrane and geotextile are laid separately, the product performance is better than that of the composite geomembrane, but if you consider saving the time of overlap and laying, you can choose the composite geomembrane if you lay it all at once.
8. The connection between PE pipe and geomembrane can be welded with a hot air gun and an extrusion welding gun. The connection between PVC pipe and geomembrane can only be welded with extrusion welding. It is not recommended to use a hot air welding gun, because the melting points of PVC and geomembrane are different, and the heating of the hot air welding gun is uneven, and the welding effect is not good.
9. It is not recommended to use PVC welding rods for a long time with ordinary geomembrane extrusion welding guns, because it will cause erosion to the extrusion welding gun parts.
10. Compared with PVC and PE anti-seepage materials, mice are more likely to gnaw on PVC anti-seepage membranes because PVC contains aromatic hydrocarbons.
